When my parents visited me in Stockholm for the first time, I wanted them to see the small pieces of everyday life that had become meaningful to me in Sundbyberg.
One evening we wandered around Lötsjön, a peaceful lake where locals often walk and birds gather in every season.
Maybe it was the contrast with Beirut’s dense cityscape, or simply the quiet of that evening, but my mom connected with the place instantly. From then on, visiting the lake became our little ritual until they had to fly home.
Ever since, she’ll message me every now and then, asking for new photos of “her lake,” just to feel a bit closer to it (and to me) as the seasons changed.
