The Story Behind Each Collection
I split my artworks into collections because each one keeps answering a different question I find myself circling back to with a camera: what stillness looks like on a Nordic coastline, what home looks like from somewhere I actually live, what's left when you take away color and context altogether.
This page is where I explain that thinking properly, collection by collection, so that you understand my intent when creating these pieces, not as individual artworks but as a more cohesive body of work.

Nordic landscapes
When I first started photographing Sweden, I wasn't really trying to document a place. I was trying to understand a feeling. Coming from Beirut, where the horizon was always interrupted by something, I found myself drawn again and again to the wide, quiet landscapes of the Nordics: the High Coast, the strange open plains of Öland, the coastline of Bornholm. These aren't dramatic images, and they're not meant to be. Each one is a small study in stillness.

It was early morning, and from the shore where we had stopped, the High Coast Bridge stood against the pale daylight. The moon was still high in the sky, as if it was sticking around to see what it goes on during the day while she's usually away.When the wind picked up, we could see the trees around us starting to sway, but the bridge stood completely still. It looked effortless, the cables holding steady. Sometimes strength can look silent and calm, even when everything around it moves.

"I want to be there instead"
We had hiked to a fortress at the edge of a cliff on Bornholm. Standing at the edge of the fortress and looking down, all the allure of being at the top and safe behind a thick wall faded away as I looked at the possibility of all that laid at the bottom of the cliff.
Being there, I wondered how many soldiers had stood guard on this very wall, long ago, and had that very same thought.

It took me far too long to visit Malmö. It was only about ten years after moving to Sweden that I finally visited its third largest city.Once I did however, I fell instantly in love, and while the Turning Torso was nowhere near the top of the list of my favourite things about Malmö, it is undeniably iconic, which compelled me to photograph it in a way that reflected its unique status among buildings in both Malmö and Sweden.

A typical summer walk for any Stockholmer, the stretch between Djurgården and the city center, done a hundred times and somehow never the same twice.
What stopped me here was the mast: the twirl of the furled sail echoed almost exactly in the swirl of the clouds behind it, like the sky had stepped in to finish what the sailboat started.

Sundbyberg: my home town
Sundbyberg is where I live, and this collection is the closest thing I have to a diary. It's technically Sweden's smallest municipality, tucked entirely inside Stockholm, but it doesn't feel like an afterthought to the capital. The water tower, the church spire, the twin towers at Tuletornen, the green quiet of Lötsjön: these are landmarks I pass on ordinary days, not places I traveled to find. I photograph them the way I'd point something out to a friend visiting for the first time. Here's what I love about where I live, and here's why it's worth a second look.

What I love about this particular building is the way it interacts with the light: the yellow walls seem to soak up the sun, while the green copper spire cuts a sharp, elegant line against the blue. There’s a quiet moment at Råstasjön that always stays with me: When the sun dips low and the world slows down just enough for you to hear your own thoughts.
One evening I stood by the water, watching a lone swan drift toward the shore. It probably hoped I had seeds to offer, but I like to believe it had a more poetic reason, drawn in by the same calm that pulled me there.
Moments like this remind me why this lake has become one of my anchors in Sundbyberg. It’s proof that even in the middle of the city, nature doesn’t have to be a planned destination. Sometimes it’s just a few steps away, waiting to meet you exactly where you are.

Some evenings at Råstasjön feel almost unreal in their simplicity. The sun settles low, casting this golden warmth that seems to stretch across the entire lake, and the ducks gather by the shore like they’re closing out the day together.
In a life that’s always moving, these familiar moments remind me to slow down and breathe, to appreciate how beautiful the everyday can be.

The human form in monochrome
This collection is where I strip everything back to line and gesture. No color, no busy background, nothing to explain the shot beyond the shape of a body in a moment. I think of it as a study in subtraction: showing a part and letting you imagine the whole, the same way a single silhouette can say more than a fully lit portrait. The blacks stay deep and velvety rather than flattening out, which matters more here than in any other collection since the whole image is riding on that contrast. It's the most personal work I make.
Looking back at my school years in a French school, the French revolution and the paintings depicting it were a central theme in my education, and are cemented in my memory.
Sometimes when planning a shoot, they come up as inspiration and nudge the direction of the emotion I am aiming to capture.
Perhaps the model's own inner revolution helped bring this theme to the surface, or perhaps it was my own desire to break free from the restrictions I was putting on myself and my art at the time.

The idea of photography being an art by subtraction has always stuck with me, and I have always been drawn to the idea of creating photographs that show a part only to let the viewer imagine the whole.
Is the dancer's ballet outfit visible right outside of the frame? Is she standing on a pointe? Is there a stage? An audience? Left to the imagination, the world is full of possibilities.

Quiet details
Not everything I photograph is a landscape or a face. Some of the images I keep coming back to are the smallest ones: a single leaf holding a drop of rain, a bee that landed somewhere I happened to be looking, the way light catches a plant one afternoon and not the next. There's a kind of wonder sitting in things most people walk past without a second glance, and this collection is really just me slowing down long enough to actually see it. Quiet Details is where those smaller, closer moments live: images that don't need a grand view to earn a place on your wall, just a bit of attention paid to something easy to overlook.

I hadn't set out to photograph this at all. I'd been pointing my long lens up at the sky on one of my walks, and when I lowered the camera to check the shots, I realized what it was now accidentally aimed at instead: a single plant, its leaves curling into something quietly elegant and abstract.
Not what I went looking for, but the happy accidents are usually the ones worth keeping.

We'd been out for a long walk when the sky opened without warning, sending Benji and me under the nearest shelter until it passed. Once it let up, we carried on, and that's when I noticed the hosta, its broad leaves still holding heavy, round droplets from the downpour.
Some of my favorite frames are the ones a walk hands you right after it's tested your patience.

Benji doesn't care what the weather is doing, he needs his walk regardless, which means I've learned not to care either. Somewhere along the way I started bringing a camera too, this way the walks give something back to both of us.
This one was taken on a day when the rain was so fine it barely qualified as rain at all, more like walking inside a cloud. The droplets had settled so gently on the leaves that I had to stop and look properly.
